Our civilisation and societies are collapsing, or at least crumbling. It’s quite a long story of a number of interrelated and converging crises.
But before we get into the argument What do I mean by societal collapse?
First an astounding fact

????The enormous bounty we get from fossil fuels

and then some theory

Ever-increasing growth (& consumption) is not possible on a finite planet

But already We've over-reached the carrying capacity of the world

Success comes to the successful

The declining fossil fuel energy bounty is a fundamental and hidden driver of collapse

The domino effect

And now the main argument: our multiple inter-related crises

The bio-physical crises

+++The food crisis

The migration crisis

The economic crisis

+++The political crisis

All of which stem from either false or no longer applicable stories we tell ourselves about the way the world works, in other words +++The existential crisis of our current paradigm.

+++The creed of debt fuelled growth

+++The belief that tech will save us

+++The belief that humans are separate from - and have dominion over - nature

NEEDS CONCLUSION
Please now go back to the previous page and consider why I think some of us should be considering and preparing for collapse, and what I propose those of us should be doing. This is what people call acting on the Precautionary Principle.
The basic idea underlying a precautionary principle (PP) is often summarized as “better safe than sorry”. Even if it is uncertain whether an activity will lead to harm, for example, to the environment or to human health, measures should be taken to prevent harm.
