Respect for the principle of emergence

Many of us are deeply conditioned to believe that large changes can only come about through an inspiring leader; with a top down plan, targets and incentives.

This is part of the mindset of our current paradigm. It assumes our leaders are trustworthy and all-knowing - frequently this is not true. And it can lead to our leaders making decisions that benefit them best.

As the system crumbles towards collapse all sorts of things holding us back can weaken, and new centres of activity can make things happen. This will often seem like chaos.

We need to understand and learn from the idea of emergence.

Emergence happens when there's significant change in the environment. Different actors (whether of the same or different species) find different ways of working together that bring all of them some benefit - mutual benefit.

And when the change in the environment happens over a large area, we may see many different instances of emergence happening; all in some ways similar and in other ways different.

An example of this might be the emergence of many self-governing commmunities springing up everywhere; each growing a different group of food crops, and making their decisions in different ways.
